Parent Support & Guidance

The Need

Since the October 7th attack and throughout the war, parents of children with learning disabilities (LD) and ADHD have faced unprecedented challenges in supporting their children through complex trauma and disruption. The severe and ongoing crisis has placed enormous strain on families, particularly those with children who require specialized support and stable routines. Parents find themselves navigating uncharted territory – managing their own trauma while trying to provide the emotional and educational stability their children desperately need.

Throughout this period, Nitzan has witnessed firsthand how parents struggle with questions they never imagined having to face: How do I explain ongoing danger to a child with ADHD who already struggles with anxiety? How do I maintain learning routines when our world has been turned upside down? How do I recognize when my child needs professional help, and where do I find it?

Now, with most communities having returned home and in the aftermath of recent escalations, parents continue to grapple with the long-term effects of trauma on their children’s learning, behaviour, and emotional well-being. Many parents report feeling overwhelmed and unprepared to address their children’s changing needs. The coming year will be pivotal in determining how well families can rebuild stability and support their children’s recovery and growth.

Well-being & Resilience

There are moments when you realize that hope is not just a word. It is an action. It is small hands holding a flowerpot, shining eyes watching a first sprout emerge, and the smile of a child rediscovering that they are capable.
