The Teacher as a Coach: Promoting Educator Well-Being

Empowering Teachers to Thrive in and out of the Classroom

Program No. 51362 – Approved by the Ministry of Education’s “Gefen” System

About the Program

Nitzan Association’s groundbreaking program is designed to transform the faculty room into a space of growth, support, and empowerment. Through Emotional Cognitive Coaching (E.C.C.) approach, teachers discover powerful tools to enhance their personal well-being and gain resilience in dealing with daily professional and personal challenges.

Developed by Dr. Maly Danino, CEO of Nitzan, the program is based on over 15 years of successful implementation in Israel and abroad. The method is supported by continuous research conducted in collaboration with Israel’s leading universities.

Program Goals

  • Enhance Educator Well-Being: Prioritizing the mental and emotional health of the teacher.
  • Coaching Tools for Dialogue: Providing practical techniques for fostering productive communication with students.
  • Unified Language: Creating a shared professional and emotional language within the school staff.
  • Empowerment: Strengthening teachers’ ability to navigate daily challenges in their professional and personal lives.
  • Insights & Empathy: Developing a deeper understanding of students’ academic, emotional, and social difficulties.

Research & Methodology

The E.C.C. (Emotional Cognitive Coaching) method has been proven effective in clinical and educational settings. By focusing on the teacher’s own well-being first, the program creates a “ripple effect” that positively influences the classroom atmosphere and student outcomes.

Testimonials from Educators

“The training allowed us to bridge the gap between new and veteran teachers, increasing cohesion in the staff room. Teachers adopted an ’emotional-coaching’ language, learning to support and contain one another, which trickled down into their daily teaching.”

“I learned how to prepare for one-on-one meetings with students. I understood that to create a successful connection, I need to be calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental. Reducing criticism allowed me to be more attentive, which in turn encouraged my students to express their feelings openly.”

“The course provided a safe and respectful platform for free expression. The facilitator’s non-judgmental approach served as an exemplary model for how a teacher should ideally relate to their students.”
