B-Friendly Program

Developing Social-Emotional Skills to Reduce Shaming, Ostracism, and Social Alienation

Program No. 50444 – Approved by the Ministry of Education’s “Gefen” System

About the Program

In the era of social media, children and adolescents are exposed to complex social situations in both physical and virtual spaces. These challenges can lead to shaming, social exclusion, and alienation, often resulting in anxiety, avoidance, and loneliness.
To address these challenges, the Nitzan Association developed B-Friendly – an interactive program designed to cultivate social and emotional skills. Through engaging group sessions, students explore real-life social scenarios from multiple perspectives. These scenarios serve as a catalyst for group discussion, allowing children to experience positive social interactions in a “corrective” environment. The ultimate goal is to boost self-confidence, improve self-image, and prevent social bullying.

Program Goals

  • Self-Awareness & Emotional Regulation: Developing the ability to identify and manage emotions.
  • Empathy: Increasing sensitivity and understanding towards others.
  • Self-Efficacy: Strengthening self-image and the belief in one’s own abilities.
  • Social Skills: Improving communication and interaction within social circles.
  • Coping Strategies: Providing practical tools for navigating diverse social situations.
  • Building Connections: Fostering meaningful social bonds within and outside the group.

Research & Development

The program was developed by Dr. Mali Danino, CEO of the Nitzan Association, and is based on the Emotional Cognitive Coaching (E.C.C.) method.
Research has proven the program’s effectiveness, showing significant improvements in students’ self-control and empathy, alongside a notable decrease in aggressive behavior.

Voices from the Field

Adi Bardalas, Principal of Kinar School, Tiberias: “The program has been operating at my school for two consecutive years. Beyond the added value it brings, I witness students sharing and reflecting on social shaming situations, which allows us to provide a tailored response. I highly recommend this program to every school.”

Sarit Hindi, Principal of Ramot School, Beer Sheva: “The facilitator led the group toward strengthening internal bonds and openness toward peers outside the group. Students felt more secure, and competitive behaviors were transformed into dialogue and friendship. There is no doubt that this program is vital for the social-emotional development of children.”

Liat Stillman, Pedagogical Director: “The program created an open space for deep discourse, strengthened the sense of community, and gave students essential tools for growth. The professionalism and sensitivity shown by the facilitators left a significant mark on both students and staff.”
